Blocked Toilet Clearing
A pan that rises instead of dropping gets its branch cleared and the main line checked, so the bowl behaves and nothing waits downstream.
Those bush-edge eucalypts around Paten Park and Wittonga Park keep pushing roots into boundary traps, so The Gap blocked drain jobs cover toilets, sewers, stormwater, sinks and showers; call (07) 3522 5670.
If we're late, $100 comes off your bill
Each drain job on this site runs through one of the six services on our drain services page, and each has its own page:

A pan that rises instead of dropping gets its branch cleared and the main line checked, so the bowl behaves and nothing waits downstream.

When the whole house goes slow at once, we clear the shared sewer line from the boundary trap, and every fixture runs free again the same visit.

Gullies and pits that overflow in the first downpour get their stormwater lines flushed and the silt that chokes the flat runs washed clear before the next cell arrives.

Sinks, showers and floor wastes that slow drain by drain get scoured with an eel or jet blasting, which strips grease off the walls instead of poking through it.

A camera pass shows the inside of the pipe, pinpointing roots, a cracked joint or a dropped section on these slopes before anyone starts digging up the yard.

Broken, cracked or root-damaged pipes get dug up and replaced, or relined in place where access allows, so the repair suits the pipe, the slope and the block.

The Gap Blocked Drain Services is the blocked drain service for The Gap, Keperra and Enoggera. We clear blocked toilets, sewers, stormwater lines and fixture drains, and we repair the pipes underneath them.
The valley filled with detached family homes from the late 1950s onward, and plenty of those first house drains were never replaced. We're locally owned and operated, and the price is fixed before work starts.

Most of the valley's houses went up from the 1960s into the 1970s, and plenty still run their first glazed clay drains. Those lengths are short, so a joint turns up about every metre, and joints are where trouble gets in.
The reserves, the creek corridors and the bush boundary along Mount Coot-tha all carry eucalypts, and their fine roots hunt moisture year round. A seeping clay joint feeds them, and the mass grows until paper snags on it.
The valley walls are granite and phyllite, and that granitic soil is quick to move once a joint weeps or a gully spills. The bedding goes, the line sags, and solids catch on the break.
The slopes give most lines plenty of fall, so fall itself is rarely the fault. Blockages gather at the bends and on the flat stretch before the connection, where the flow eases and drops what it carries.
Drain backing up right now? Three quick checks:

Most blockages announce themselves a week before they stop the pipe completely. These four signs cover most of the calls we take:
air trapped by a partial blockage is escaping through the nearest fixture, which means the fault sits downstream of it.
the branch or the main line beyond it is partly blocked, and what goes down has nowhere to go.
the surcharge point is doing its job, but the line it feeds is restricted and backing up.
the blockage is in the shared sewer line, not one branch, and clearing it fixes the lot.

No two drain jobs quote the same, because four things move the figure before anyone picks up a tool:
A boundary trap beside a Payne Road driveway is a quick job; a line under a patio or a deck costs more to reach.
Deep clay runs on the sloping blocks take longer to clear than shallow lines, and older pipe can dictate the method.
Grease clears differently to a root mass, and a dropped pipe may need repair work after the clear.
Repeat blockages and repair jobs earn a look inside the pipe, and that gets quoted as its own job.
There is one call we will point elsewhere: a blockage in an Urban Utilities sewer main out in the street belongs to Urban Utilities, not to you or to us, and we will say so plainly if that is where the fault sits.

The suburb sits in a valley between Mount Coot-tha and Enoggera Hill, and the low ground near Enoggera Creek collects whatever runs off both hill sides.
When a big cell lands, the pits at the bottom of the catchment surcharge before anything else, and water that should run away backs up through low floor wastes and gullies instead.
Council's February 2022 flood mapping touches only a few streets along the creek: Glenella Street, Quirk Street, Jevons Street, School Road and Romea Street, with creek flood risk also on Settlement Road and Bromwich Street. No river flood footprint reaches this far up the valley.
Stormwater lines silting with fine grit off the slopes are routine work here, and a blocked line on one of those low streets often comes mixed up with creek water rather than standing alone.
The yearly average here runs to about 1047mm of rain, and summer storms deliver most of it, so clearing work bunches between November and March.

Access, how deep the line sits, what caused the jam and any camera work all shape the figure, and you agree it before any work starts.
We can usually be there the same day when you call in the morning, though a storm day can fill the book quickly across the valley.
Everything inside your boundary up to where it meets the main is yours to maintain, and the main itself belongs to Urban Utilities, who attend faults in their own network.
Wipes, paper towel, hair, cooking grease and sanitary items sit behind most of the blockages we clear, because none of them break down like toilet paper does.
The camera travels the pipe and shows roots, a shifted joint, grease or a dropped section, so the fix aims at the real fault instead of a guess.
Ring (07) 3522 5670, tell us what the drain is doing, and we set a visit, trace the cause and quote a fixed price before any work starts.
